Chris Cornell's cause of death has been ruled a "hanging by suicide," according to a statement from the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office in Detroit.
"The cause of death has been determined as hanging by suicide," the official statement reads. "A full autopsy report has not yet been completed. There is no additional information at this time."

According to Viceland, Taylor "confronts the traumas of his past including abandonment and attempted suicide" on the show, which features Dr. Siri Sat Nam Singh speaking with musicians to help them "process their traumas and fears through self-discovery and meditation." UPDATE: A spokesperson for the Detroit Police Department wouldn't identify the victim, but told ABC News the victim's wife called a family friend to check on the victim.
The friend forced their way into a room at the MGM Grand Hotel and found the victim unresponsive. A medic unit called to the scene also found victim unresponsive, with what was described as a "band" around the neck.
The spokesperson described the death as a "apparent suicide," but wouldn't confirm that pending an autopsy and coroner's report. The victim's date of birth is July 20, 1964, the same as Cornell's.

Three of Nickelback's biggest albums are receiving the vinyl treatment. 2001's Silver Side Up, 2003's The Long Road and 2005's All the Right Reasons will be reissued as 140-gram records on July 7.
